Education & Development Programme

Education & Development Programme

ATSWA Trust’s Education & Development Programme supports children, adolescents, and youth through structured academic support, gender sensitization, life-skills development, and inclusive learning initiatives. Our approach strengthens foundational learning, prevents school dropouts, and builds emotional resilience—particularly among children from vulnerable and marginalized communities.

Through partnerships with national and international organizations, ATSWA delivers targeted education interventions across rural and border communities.

Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme

Supported by Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (2024–2026, Ongoing)
In the Pulicat region, ATSWA is currently implementing a comprehensive adolescent empowerment programme covering 600 adolescent girls and 100 boys as gender allies across multiple panchayats. The programme focuses on gender sensitization, social and emotional well-being, leadership building, visioning exercises, and solidarity networks. This initiative strengthens confidence, agency, and long-term educational retention among adolescents.

Stichting Child Tuition Programme

Supported by Netherlands Donor (2024–2025)
This initiative supports 300 adolescent girls in two villages, focusing on remedial tuition, mental health awareness, gender sensitisation, and dropout prevention. The programme addresses the growing need for psychosocial support and academic continuity among rural adolescent girls, helping reduce school dropout rates and strengthen resilience.

Mission Education (2023–2024, Ongoing)

Under the Mission Education initiative, 300 children aged 5–11 years received remedial education support across 10 centres in 10 villages in Redhills. The programme focuses on foundational literacy and numeracy, ensuring children remain school-ready and academically confident. In addition to academic support, nutritious supplementary snacks were provided to enhance concentration and overall well-being. The programme continues to operate in a sustainable model.

Community Education Support for HIV-Affected Boys

(2011–2025)
Since 2011, ATSWA has supported the education of HIV-affected and vulnerable boys in Madanambedu village, Sathyavedu Mandal, Andhra Pradesh. Currently, 250 boys are part of this ongoing initiative, with 40 boys receiving structured support from primary to higher secondary education, including access to open schooling pathways. The programme ensures continuity of education for children facing stigma, poverty, and health-related vulnerabilities.

Road Safety & School Awareness Programme

Supported by Handicap International (2019–2021)
Between 2019 and 2021, ATSWA implemented a Road Safety Awareness and Sensitization Programme reaching 1,200 school children. The initiative included awareness sessions and simulation-based learning modules to promote safe mobility practices.

Inclusive Education & Braille Support

Supported by CBM (2010–2017)
Between 2010 and 2017, with support from CBM, ATSWA strengthened inclusive education for children with visual impairments in Chittoor District, including Sathyavedu Mandal, reaching 500 beneficiaries. The programme focused on Braille instruction, educational support, and community-based inclusion, enabling visually impaired children to access formal schooling with dignity and confidence.
